Alan Miller, Panel Paintings Study Day
The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Panel Paintings Conservator, Alan Miller, visited the Garman Art Conservation Department at Buffalo State University for a study day on panel paintings.
Micromosaics Workshop
Buffalo State University alumna, Lorna Brundrett (Class of 2023), joined the first and second year classes to teach a micromosaic workshop.
Varnish Workshop
In the spring semester, students at Buffalo State participated in a varnish workshop led by Jill Whitten and Rob Proctor.

Stained Glass Technology Project
During the first year of our Objects lab, we are assigned a technology project in which we can explore new materials and techniques of a craft. For my project, I chose to learn about leaded stained glass.

Encaustic Workshop
This January, I participated in an encaustic painting workshop, where I learned about historical materials/techniques and painted my own panel.

Egg Tempera Panel Paintings
In Paintings Lab I, first-year Fellows made an egg tempera panel painting using traditional techniques.

Tintype Workshop at Scully and Osterman Studio
Graduate Fellows had the opportunity to attend a tintype workshop at the Scully and Osterman Studio in Rochester, NY.

Natural Science Materials Workshop with Fran Ritchie
In the first semester of Objects, we welcomed special guest, Fran Ritchie, an Objects Conservator at Harpers Ferry, who gave a workshop on natural science materials.

Letterpress
Using the handmade paper made during Paper Lab, first-year Graduate Fellows learned to letterpress at the Western New York Book Arts Center in Buffalo, NY.
