Handmade Paper

As part of our first semester Paper Lab, we practiced producing Western-style handmade paper.

Process:

1. Blend paper pulp
2. Dip mould into pulp vat
3. Shake mould to distribute pulp across the mould screen
4. Remove deckle
5. Couch paper onto felt and form a stack
6. Press stack to remove water from newly formed sheets
7. Curl sheets over a papermaker's cross and hang to dry
8. Press dry sheets
