Natural Science Materials Workshop with Fran Ritchie

In the first semester of Objects, we welcomed special guest, Fran Ritchie, an Objects Conservator at Harpers Ferry, who gave a workshop on natural science materials. Fran covered materials including taxidermy, leather, skins, furs, and feathers. During the workshop, we learned how to mount an insect specimen, handle animal skins, make leather fills, and learned about collagen while making our own hog intestine balloons.
